New Mandatory Electrical Safety Testing From July 1st 2020

Property Electrical Fuse Box

From the 1 July 2020, landlords are legally required to ensure that all new private tenancies in England have an (EICR – Electrical Installation Condition Report) carried out by a qualified electrician before the tenancy begins. Landlords will need to ensure that the installation is inspected and tested at least every five years – and more often if the most recent safety report requires it.

For existing tenancies, an electrical safety test will need to be carried out by 1 April 2021.
